IF Red
This is pretty self explanatory I think, lol, but here it goes. I really love Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha. Also a big fan of fairy tales, so here is a color sketch of Little Red Riding Hood. :)

IF Voice
When I was kid my Grandma owned a video store. Of course I watched a lot of movies while I would hang out there with my mom while she worked. One of my favorite movies that I watched all the time was Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. My favorite character in the movie was Joey, played by Rodney Eastman. Throughout the movie he doesn't speak, until the end. In the final battle with Freddy the kids in the film all use their "dream power" to try to defeat Freddy. They end up in a hallway full of mirrors and all the kids except Joey, get pulled into the mirrors. Then Joey uses his voice (which is his dream power) to break the mirrors and bring his friends back.
So this is my depiction of the IF topic this week. I included the sketch too, I'm kinda partial to the sketch, but color is fun! Enjoy!

IF Disguise
UGH!! I toyed around all week with trying to get the right pose for this idea. I really wanted to continue the Secret Society/Abandoned Amusement Park Series with this IF. It was a perfect word for my idea too! It just took my all darn week to get the idea I was going for. With that being said here is my line drawing, which I plan to color this weekend. Enjoy!

IF: Beginning
For this topic I decided to go back to the "beginning" of my time at RISD. Or at least when I really started to find myself as an artist. I had this amazing professor named Lenny Long. I was so lucky because I was able to have him for several classes while I attended RISD. One course I took with him was an independent study, which met while he was teaching his sophomore drawing class. I was always curious to what he was teaching them and a few times I wrote down some assignments that I thought were interesting and wanted to try in my spare time. That was back in like, 2003 and needless to say I never did any of those awesome assignments.
Well, until now. This was my challenge to myself, to follow all the perimeters that Lenny gave for this one. The basic idea was this, draw an exterior scene, taking place at night, where a secret club is initiating a new member. I'm obsessed with abandoned amusement parks and costume characters scare the hell out of me, so I thought it would make a very eerie, yet really fun piece. So here ya go, the "beginning" of one crazy night for this fellow, I'm calling the piece, the Initiation.

IF: Search
I've wanted to do a Murder Mystery type poster for while now and I was stoked when the topic "Search" came up for Illustration Friday. All I could think was "A search for clues" I struggle a bit with the initial design and after 3 attempts to do something I was going to scrap it! But then I added a Doctor Who twist and found my excitement for the idea again! :)
