My friend Hayleigh has been asking me for a tree with animals carved into the trunk for a while now. (kinda like from the animal kingdom) here is my version for Hayleigh, I'm not quite done but its a start, she wanted th animals to blend enough that from a distance you can't tell they are there.

So anyway for Christmas I thought it may be nice to make him a business card that depending on who he is chatting up he can write on the back of the card to remind them what he does.

This is my tribute to Rocky Point Amusement Park. RIP. Which used to reside in Warwick RI. Though it closed long before I moved to RI, my friend and I would always plot sneaking in to the abandoned park. We never did, lol. But its nice to dream. Since I was late on my last Illustration Friday, I thought I'd post it with this weeks. The shadowbox was "Hollow" before I added these pieces of paper. Also I chose an old portrait I did of Carlos Gardel for a friend over a year ago for "Tango".

I drew this illustration from my old boyfriend Eric before I moved away to California. It took a long time to detach myself from him, but I finally got used to being without him.
I still think about Eric from time to time, he was one of my best friends as well as my boyfriend, but I guess people come into our lives for different reasons whether to teach us things or just to help lift our spirits in times of transition either way it's nice that they can inspire cute art as well. :)

This sketch/beginning color study is from a story I wrote called "Journey to Slumberland"
"David could not fall asleep. His cold was getting worse, then POOF the Sandman arrived." Well in so many words. lol. I also did a color version of Punchline too. It came out darker than I'd hope, so I'll probably work on it more. But it includes such cameos by "Captain Kidd's Grape Drink," "Funny Face: With It Watermelon" and the "Welches Grape Juice Indians" Plus, Kool Aid Man and Punchie. Enjoy!

I spent all day at work doodling while I should have been waiting on tables, the irony was I made more money today than I have in a while. I think it was due to the fact that I was in an exceptionally good mood because I was in fact drawing. So I miss the past few Illustration Fridays so I did a doodle for both. Punchline and Hoard. I hope to do the colors this week. But I start my Internship at Robot Chicken next week so I have a lot to get done before then. And oh yea as you can tell I am "hoarding"my favorite thing...cupcakes. Enjoy.

IF Wide (comic)

So a long time ago I used to make animations using the sims character I actually made one that was a spoof on the movie BIG, it titled it "Wide" so I felt it appropriate to draw a little comic expressing the same spoof. I started by drawing the characters and then messing in photoshop to put the comic together. Now that it's basically down, I'm going to use my new cintiq to give it color and more detail. Hope ur laughing! I'll try post the animation too so you can see the original.

So a while ago Illustration Friday had a topic "Homage" which I missed cuz I was in transition with packing and moving to Cali. But I couldn't pass it up. So this is my homage to my childhood. When I was 4 I had a birthday party at "Chuckie Cheese Pizza Time Theatre" I remember that I was scared of the animatronic figures. lol So anyway with the Transformer Greeting Card I've beens doing and my birthday just passing I thought it was quite appropriate to do a really cool birthday card for myself! :) Enjoy!

Sometimes I feel like when I upload these colored pencil on black paper drawings I feel like they lose a lot of brightness and don't look as nice as they do on my computer. Anyway, this week Illustration Friday topic is Electricity. I thought of those cool Lightening bugs/Fireflies. I used to think if I touched one I'd get a shock! lol. I used to try to catch enough in a jar to make a night light, but that never worked, lol. I miss being a kid. Times were so much simpler. Enjoy.

I look back on my work all the time, the work I thought was by far the best when I graduated and I can't believe how much I've really grown as an artist. I'm so proud of myself. I've taken and illustration that I still think is good and updated it in my style now, I plan on doing a new color version as well, but for now here are the sketches and the original finished piece.

So while digging thru my sketchbooks, I found a lot of my old stuff for a comic I used to write for LIU Southamptons college newspaper. That was back in 1999, crazy huh? So I thought it would be fun to re-design my old characters and see how they would like now that my style has changed so much. Here's a before and after. The top is an old comic, all 3 character are in the first frame of the first comic, then the second image is the beginnings of there re-design I did at the beach today as well.
